Two thumbs up for DD. I think JJ has focused on the Q, but I would say that any topwater temptation. Like any bait is a time and place of work better. Most topwater lures work "best day" in low light conditions (cloudy, Dusk & Dawn). Does this mean that only work now? NO! One my best days fishing in the spring was a child I caught Spook 40-50 years under a period of 8 hours .......... BUT it spring and the Frog "trap" that just happened. And smallmouth bass popper hit a rapid movement in a bluebird sunny day. bottom line? Not necessarily the time of the day, but the bass are aggressive .......... Hope this helps? My vote goes to DD.
